Can you guess the website?

Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009

In the midst of researching a new technology that we will be bringing to the table in the coming months I stumbled upon an interesting article that detailed the hosting environment of a particular (popular) website. I took the following statistics and queried a few colleagues to see if they could guess the website that the statistics represent. They were unable to guess correctly. Can you?

1.5 terabytes of data (compressed)
50,000 HTTP requests (per second)
80,000 SQL queries (per second)

BOLT Browser

Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009

Having sufficient web browsing capabilities on various RIM BlackBerry phones has proven to be a bit of a nightmare in the past. The default browser, entitled BlackBerry Browser, poorly renders websites and therefore makes simple web browsing and functionality a bit tedious. The BOLT browser is a great FREE alternative to consider.

BOLT is a free downloadable browser that offers an uncompromised browsing experience on even lower-end mobile phones.

Rather than offering a simplified, mini version of the Internet, BOLT provides users with a fast, efficient, feature-rich way to enjoy full PC-style web pages and rich media applications on all levels of mobile devices.

Built on Bitstream’s ThunderHawk browsing technology, BOLT is the result of 5+ years experience developing mobile browsers that optimize usability, speed and performance on resource-constrained systems with limited memory, processing power and screen space.
